There is no pass or fail score in IELTS. Your test results are reported in band scores from 1.0, the lowest, to 9.0, the highest, in half band increments. You will receive an overall band score, as well as individual band scores for each test section – Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. The overall band score is an average of all four scores, rounded to the nearest whole or half. All four sections are weighed equally.
An IELTS Test Report Form (TRF) is valid for two (2) years.
A candidate may resit the IELTS test at any time.
IDP IELTS Test Centres India administers tests which are available on 48 fixed dates a year – up to four times a month, depending on local demand.
IELTS Test is not recommended for candidates under 16 years. However, if they wish to take the test, they may.
In the event a registered candidate fails to appear for their IELTS test, the candidate is deemed an absentee and a refund will not be applicable.
A written request for transferring of a test date (i.e., postponement or pre –ponement) to another date must reach IDP at least five (5) weeks prior to the original test date. The allocation of the next test date will be at the sole discretion of the centre and subject to availability. The decision of the test centre will be final and binding on the applicant.
Under normal circumstances, you will be treated as an absentee. However, there are some special circumstances under which your application may be considered with some conditions. However, please be informed that the acceptance of your application is subject to approval by the test centre, whose decision will be final and binding.
Candidates may apply for a re-mark (Enquiry on Results). This must be done within six weeks of the test date. The candidate may choose which modules are to be re-marked. You must pay an enquiry fee which will be refunded if the result is changed. A re-mark can take two to four weeks to be processed.
Once the re-mark (Enquiry on Results) has been re-marked, the result is final and no other re-mark (Enquiry on Result) for the same test/s is permitted.
Candidates are allowed to carry only pens, pencils, erasers, sharpeners and passport in the test centre. Everything else like mobile phones, tabs, wrist watches and handbags must be placed in the area designated by the testing authority.
Candidates must write the Listening and Reading parts in pencil, however may choose to use either a pen or a pencil to take the writing section of the test.

PTE is accepted by select universities and governments but popular in many countries around the world. It is advisable to check if the university or college in which you are seeking admission accepts PTE or not.
PTE also has reading, listening, speaking and writing sections. All sections are conducted on a computer. A microphone is used for speaking section. Each section has a fixed duration and there is no option of going back to the previous attempted questions. PTE academic results are available online in five business days.
