The writing module is divided into 2 different parts. The first one will require you to describe visual information such as charts, graphs, and diagrams in 150 words. In the second task, you will have to write a 250 words essay on a topic. You will have to establish an opinion and discuss the given topic.
You cannot write your answers in points and short sentences in these tests. The guidelines require you to write complete sentences for each answer. A candidate is given 60 mins to complete these two tasks.
The marking will be done by certified IELTS examiners and it will be done on several bases. Task 2 – Essay writing contributes twice as much as your task 1.
The writing tasks for the IELTS General include more everyday topics as compared to the IELTS academic writing exam. You will be required to answer 2 questions in 1 hour. The word limit for task 1 is a minimum of 150 words and a minimum of 250 words for task 2.
In task 1, you will have to write a letter on a given situation seeking information or explaining the situation. The choice of format for the letter is your own. Task 2 is essay writing which is a response to a point of view, issue, or argument in your writing style.
